We exclusively sell window films of the highest quality from renowned manufacturers. These films are scratch-resistant and durable, featuring a self-adhesive layer. The adhesive is of high-quality and long-lasting, ensuring consistent adhesion to the glass surface. Proper handling and careful cleaning of the window film is therefore crucial to permanently prevent deformations and yellowing and to extend the lifespan of your films.
Drying Phase After Installation
Installing the film requires the application of the mounting solution (mixed with water), creating a visible film after application that results from moisture residue between the window film and the glass surface. This film disappears after some time as the liquid diffuses out.
Important: The drying process can take up to several weeks depending on the prevailing temperatures.
Tips for Optimal Drying
- At warmer temperatures (above 20°C), the film dries faster.
- Avoid direct sunlight during the first few days.
- Small water bubbles will disappear on their own during the drying process.
- Ventilate the room regularly to reduce humidity.
Cleaning the Window Film
Regular and gentle cleaning keeps your window film in optimal condition.
Method 1: With a Squeegee
- Dilute the glass cleaner with water.
- Use a soft squeegee to wipe the window from top to bottom.
- Repeat the process until the glass surface is free of dirt and dust particles.
- Change the cleaning water regularly and use clean water.
- Dry the squeegee with a paper towel after each wipe.
- You can absorb the water collecting on the window frame with a soft cloth.
Method 2: With a Spray Bottle
- Spray your window evenly with glass cleaner.
- Wipe with a lint-free cotton cloth in circular motions.
- Polish with a dry, soft cloth afterwards.
Precautions
Waiting Period After Installation
Do not clean the covered glass surface for the first 3-4 weeks after installation. The film needs this time to dry completely and develop optimal adhesion.
Always avoid:
- Acidic or alkaline glass cleaners
- Abrasive cleaners or scouring sponges
- Chamois leather, microfiber cloths or similar rough materials
- Paper towels with coarse texture
- Pressure washers
- Sharp or pointed objects near the film
Recommended Cleaning Tools
- Soft, non-abrasive window squeegee
- Rubber squeegee with soft rubber
- Regular glass cleaner (pH-neutral)
- Lint-free cotton cloths
- Soft, clean water
Tip: When choosing a glass cleaner, the manufacturer is irrelevant. What matters is that it is pH-neutral and contains no aggressive ingredients.
Best Practices for Long-Lasting Films
Regular Inspection
Check your window film every few months for peeling or damage at the edges.
Avoid Temperature Extremes
Do not expose the film to extreme temperature fluctuations. Heaters should not be directed at the film.
Careful with Window Frames
When opening and closing windows, be careful not to damage the film edges.
No Stickers
Avoid sticking stickers or decorations directly on the film.
Professional Help
For major damage or peeling, consult a professional.
Seasonal Care Tips
Spring
After winter, a thorough cleaning is recommended. Remove pollen and dust with lukewarm water.
Summer
Do not clean the film in direct sunlight, as the cleaner dries too quickly and can leave streaks.
Autumn
Regularly remove leaves and organic residue from window sills to avoid discoloration.
Winter
Avoid cleaning in frost. Condensation on the windows is normal and does not harm the film.
Frequently Asked Questions About Care
Can I use a steam cleaner?
No, steam cleaners should not be used. The high temperature and moisture can damage the adhesive bond.
What to do with stubborn stains?
Soak the stain with warm water and a little dish soap. Then wipe gently with a soft cloth.
How often should I clean the film?
Cleaning every 2-3 months is usually sufficient. For heavier soiling, you can clean more frequently.
Does the film discolor over time?
High-quality films are UV-stabilized and do not yellow. With proper care, they retain their appearance for many years.
